Using the PuroBrite™ System to Braze: How Does it Differ From Other Systems?

When it comes to brazing stainless steel, no system is more effective than Franklin Brazing’s proprietary PuroBrite™ system. Specially designed for the needs of chromium alloys, the PuroBrite™ system produces stainless steel assemblies that have a bright, clean appearance and excellent dimensional stability. Compared to many systems that are used to braze stainless steel, the PuroBrite™ system offers the following important advantages, among others.

Pure Brazing Atmosphere

When chromium alloys are brazed, they should be heated in an oxygen-free atmosphere. Otherwise, the surface of the metal will tarnish and a layer of oxide will prevent the filler metal from bonding strongly with the base metal. That is why we braze stainless steel using atmosphere-controlled continuous furnaces that maintain a pure nitrogen/hydrogen atmosphere.

Fast Order Processing

Another benefit of using the PuroBrite™ system to braze is the expedient manner in which orders are completed. In addition to creating an oxygen-free brazing atmosphere, our continuous furnaces transport workpieces through the heating chamber at a steady rate. This makes them perfect for processing large orders and orders that must be completed on short notice.

Metal is Heated Evenly

Brazing assemblies in a continuous furnace results in even heating that helps prevent them from developing a heterogeneous microstructure that reduces dimensional stability. When you use the PuroBrite™ system to braze, you can preserve the homogenous microstructure of the work pieces and prevent the formation of stresses that lead to failure during service.

High First Pass Yield Rate

Yet another benefit of using the PuroBrite™ system to braze is that practically every order is completed correctly on the first try. Our brazing system has a first pass yield rate of nearly 100 percent — far higher than most of the competition. The higher a metal treatment company’s first pass yield rate, the lower the overall cost and the more likely a brazing order is to be completed by the expected date.
